Palla Srinivasa Rao Calls for Collective Commitment to Environmental Protection
Hyderabad, June 4:
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State President Palla Srinivasa Rao on Thursday announced that the party would launch a statewide bicycle campaign on the occasion of World Environment Day, aimed at promoting environmental awareness and encouraging responsible fuel consumption.

Addressing a media conference at the party headquarters in Mangalagiri, Palla Srinivasa Rao said the initiative was intended to convey a strong social message that environmental protection is a shared responsibility and requires active7 participation from every citizen. He appealed to party leaders, cadre, supporters, and the general public to use bicycles wherever possible and contribute to the larger cause of sustainable living.

As part of the programme, TDP National President and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will undertake a bicycle ride from the helipad to the place of stay in Visakhapatnam on Friday. The TDP State President urged party leaders, workers, and supporters to participate enthusiastically in the campaign.

Public Participation Key to Environmental Conservation

Palla Srinivasa Rao observed that the world today is confronting multiple environmental challenges, including climate change, rising pollution levels, and the gradual depletion of green cover. Addressing these concerns, he said, requires collective action from governments, institutions, and citizens alike.

“Environmental conservation cannot be viewed solely as the responsibility of governments. People must become active stakeholders in safeguarding nature. With this objective, the Telugu Desam Party has initiated the bicycle campaign to create greater public awareness on environmental protection,” he said.

Highlighting the benefits of cycling, the TDP State President noted that increased bicycle usage would help reduce pollution, lower fuel consumption, improve public health, and contribute positively to ecological balance. He emphasised that meaningful change often begins with simple individual actions and that every citizen has a role to play in preserving the environment for future generations.

Calling for widespread participation, Palla Srinivasa Rao urged party leaders, public representatives, and workers across the State to use bicycles for their daily engagements on Friday and demonstrate their commitment towards environmental stewardship.

‘My Nation, My Responsibility’: A Call for Responsible Fuel Usage

Referring to the prevailing geopolitical tensions in West Asia and their impact on global energy supplies, Palla Srinivasa Rao said the situation had highlighted the importance of prudent fuel consumption.

He recalled Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call of “My Nation, My Responsibility” and urged citizens to minimise fuel usage wherever possible. Such measures, he said, would not only help address the challenges arising from fuel shortages but would also contribute significantly towards reducing environmental pollution.

The TDP State President noted that emissions from motor vehicles continue to be a major contributor to carbon pollution and several health-related concerns. Reducing dependence on fuel-powered transportation, he said, would benefit both the environment and public well-being.

Citing the party’s recent Mahanadu as an example of responsible resource management, Palla Srinivasa Rao pointed out that the event had been conducted in a hybrid format, enabling more than 24 lakh party workers to participate through digital platforms. The initiative, he said, helped minimise travel-related fuel consumption while ensuring extensive participation.

Appealing for active public involvement in the bicycle campaign, the TDP State President called upon party cadre and citizens alike to come forward with a sense of civic responsibility and environmental consciousness.

“Let every individual adopt the spirit of ‘My Nation, My Responsibility’ and become a partner in the mission of environmental protection. Small yet meaningful actions today can pave the way for a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future,” he said.
