Celebrations Mark Launch of South Coast Railway Zone Operations at Duvvada
Visakhapatnam, June 1: A sense of achievement and collective pride marked the celebrations at Duvvada Railway Station on Monday as the South Coast Railway Zone formally commenced operations, bringing to fruition a long-standing aspiration of the people of North Andhra.
The celebrations were led by Telugu Desam Party Andhra Pradesh president and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao, with coalition leaders, party workers, railway employees and local residents gathering in large numbers to commemorate the occasion. The atmosphere was festive, with fireworks illuminating the skies and sweets being distributed among passengers, railway staff and the public.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Srinivasa Rao described the inauguration of the railway zone as a historic milestone that fulfilled a four-decade-old demand of the region. He said the establishment of the South Coast Railway Zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, represented more than an administrative reorganisation and would serve as a catalyst for the economic and infrastructural transformation of North Andhra.
He attributed the achievement to the concerted efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and Minister Nara Lokesh, stating that their collective commitment had helped translate a long-pending public aspiration into reality.
New Opportunities for the Youth
Mr. Srinivasa Rao expressed confidence that the new railway zone would significantly expand employment opportunities for local youth. He noted that recruitment processes and administrative operations associated with the railways would become more accessible to candidates from Andhra Pradesh, reducing the logistical challenges that aspirants had often faced in the past.
The railway zone, he said, would not only generate direct employment but also create a wider ecosystem of economic activity, offering fresh opportunities for skilled and unskilled workers alike.
Impetus to Port-Led Growth

Highlighting the strategic significance of the development, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said stronger rail connectivity with the Visakhapatnam and Gangavaram ports would substantially enhance freight movement and logistical efficiency. Improved integration between port infrastructure and the railway network, he observed, would strengthen the region’s position as a major industrial and commercial hub.
The railway zone is expected to facilitate greater investment, accelerate industrial growth and contribute to the overall economic advancement of North Andhra, he added.
Among those present were DCCB Chairman Kona Tatarao, Gajuwaka BJP Convener Narasinga Rao, former corporators, coalition leaders and party workers. This version reads like a mainstream English newspaper report rather than a translated party press release, while retaining all substantive political messaging and attribution.
