Hyderabad, August 28: Chief Minister Sri A Revanth Reddy announced that Telangana Talli statue will be unveiled in the Secretariat, which is the epicenter of State administration, in the presence of lakhs of people on
on December 9 this year. This historic event of unveiling of the statue of Telangana Talli will be organised on the lines of Million March which was conducted during the intensified Telangana movement.
Amidst chanting Vedic hymns by the priests, the Chief Minister performed Bhumi Puja for the installation of Telangana Talli statue in the secretariat premises today ( Wednesday).
The Chief Minister said that the government planned to organise the Bhumi Puja in a grand manner. Vedic scholars suggested that there are no auspicious days till Dasara festival and hence the Bhumi Puja program is conducted today in hurry even in the absence of Deputy CM, who is on Kerala visit, and other ministers who already preoccupied with their official programs.
Achievement of Telangana state is a testament to the determination and perseverance of Telangana movement activists , the CM said praising AICC leader Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling the 60-year-old aspirations of Telangana state people and committed to her speech in Karimnagar public meeting. The formation of Telangana state in 2014 is a matter of pride for all and it should be inscribed in golden letters in the history. The previous rulers between 2014 and 2024 boasted about themselves that they have built Telangana and role model for the world. The CM took a broadside at the last government for neglecting the Telangana Talli and criticized that the previous rulers had acted in such a way that they considered themselves to be the property of Telangana and Telangana is their own asset. The Congress led People’s government is against practicing such policies, the Chief Minister said reminding that Telangana people were barred from entering the Pragati Bhavan by erecting huge fence and guarding by hundreds of policemen. Pragati Bhavan was a restricted Fort in the previous government and today it has become example for the country. People are permitted to move freely in Praja Bhavan.
CM Revanth Reddy said that his government decided to install Telangana Talli statue in the Secretariat which is the heart of State administration. Government has been taking all decisions related to the state administration and people are also being given opportunity to express their problems here. The chief minister expressed his anger for not permitting people inside Secretariat by the previous Chief Minister and ministers. The last government presented Rs 22.50 lakh crore budget during 10 year rule but failed to spend at least Rs One crore to install Telangana Talli statue in the Secretariat.
The statues of Dr Ambedkar, Indira Gandhi, Anjaiah, PV Narasimha Rao, Kaka Venkataswamy and Jaipal Reddy, who contributed a lot for country and state, were installed around Necklace Road and Tank Bund. The statue of noted leader and former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is missing. Some vested interests tried to exploit the place in front of the Secretariat for their own selfish purposes. On the suggestion of the intellectuals, the government is installing Rajiv Gandhi’s statue. The CM angered over politicizing the installation Rajiv Gandhi statue by linking with Telangana Talli statue.
Already proclaimed
CM Revanth Reddy said that he already announced the installation of Telangana Talli statue in the Secretariat on June 2. The CM lambasted the previous government for not installing Telangana Bill statue during the 10-year regime. It is a long-cherished wish to install Telangana Talli statue which reflects the image of mother of Telangana and cultural ethos of the state, the CM said that the statue should not symbolize the aristocratic characters and hence the JNTU, Fine Arts department has been entrusted with the responsibility of designing the statue as per the wishes of Telangana people.
The CM recalled that that the UPA government led by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced the start of official process to the formation of Telangana on December 9, 2009. Since Sonia Gandhi’s birthday is celebrated on December 9, the government decided to unveil the Telangana Talli statue on the same day this year. The chief minister announced that the Telangana Talli unveiling ceremony will be organised in a grand manner. ” I am fortunate that such a wonderful event of the unveiling ceremony of Telangana Talli statue is being organised by his government and this opportunity will not get everyone” , the Chief Minister said that he is lucky enough to participate in the program.
