Hyderabad, October 21: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy earnestly appealed to Maoists to surrender before Telangana police and join the mainstream life. ” Telangana suffered from Maoists and Terrorists activities in the past. The indomitable spirit displayed by the state police is the result of fast declining terror and naxal activities in the state in recent times” , the Chief Minister said that many key Maoists have already surrendered and. ” I am appealing to all Maoists leaders and activists who are active to surrender before the police and join mainstream life. The CM asserted that Maoists should join as partners in the nation building and the country’s development by shedding the naxal ideology. The Chief Minister commended the Telangana police for their exemplary service in rooting out naxal menace in the state.

Paying glorious tributes to the police martyrs on the Police Commemoration Day at the police Martyrs Memorial in the city today, CM Revanth Reddy said that 191 police personnel including 6 from Telangana laid down their lives while discharging their duties in the country. Greyhound’s commandos T Sandeep, V. Sridhar, N. Pawan Kalyan sacrificed their lives in the fight against the anti-social forces. Assistant Commandant Banothu Jawaharlal and Nalgonda Constable B. Saidu also died. Three days ago, CCS Constable Pramod Kumar lost his life in Nizamabad.
Announcing that the State Government will extend all kinds of support to the bereaved family of Pramod, the Chief Minister said Rs one crore ex gratia, last paid salary till the retirement of the martyred constable, a government job and a 300-yard house to one of the family members will be given. 16 lakhs ex-gratia from the Police Security Welfare and Rs 8 lakhs ex-gratia from the Police Welfare will also be given to Pramod’s family. The CM recalled that the government allotted a 200 yards housing plot each at Gajularamaram to 33 policemen who laid down their lives while fighting against Maoists in Odisha in June 2008.

“Telangana Police built a trust and gave assurance to the society. Police never compromised and took risks to protect people “, the CM said that it is the duty of all of us to remember the police martyrs who have sacrificed their lives for the state as well as for the country.
The Chief Minister extolled the Telangana police for being number one in the country in adapting new technology and unique policies to strengthen the policing. According to the India Justice Report 2025, the Telangana Police Department has been ranked first in the country. Similarly, the Ministry of External Affairs gave special compliments to Telangana police for a transparent passport verification system. These achievements are a testament to the continuous efforts and dedication of the Telangana Police, the CM said

CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the new crimes such as cyber-crime, digital fraud, morphing content, drugs, and human trafficking which posed a big challenge for the police. Cybercrime news is appearing more in the newspapers than human crimes. It was a matter of pride that the Telangana police are ahead of other states in tackling the cyber-crimes by adapting advanced technology. A ‘Cyber Security Bureau’ under the leadership of a DGP-level officer has already been established to combat cyber-crimes.
This department is performing its duties efficiently and has become the best one in the country. The entire country is also saluting the Telangana Police for conducting inter-state operations to stop cyber criminals.

” The Telangana Police Department stood as a role model for the country in preventing terrorism, anti-social activities, communal agitations, white-collar crimes, drugs, cyber-crimes, adulterated food, gutkha, matka and other anti-social activities in the state”, the CM said congratulating Telangana Police for instilling people’s confidence and created an environment where it is impossible to get away with committing a crime.

Listing out the initiatives to promote Telangana as a ” Drug Free” State in the country, CM Revanth Reddy said that
the ‘Eagle’ (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement)force has been formed with the aim of completely eradicating the drug menace. The CM appealed to the police to work hard in achieving the government’s resolve to make Telangana as a drug free State in the country. Orders have already been issued delegating full powers to police and taking stern action against those who are involved in drug trafficking.

The Chief Minister also highlighted the government’s resolve to appoint women police officers in the key departments. Telangana had set an example for the country by giving postings to qualified women IPS officers in several key wings of the police department. Today , the women IPS officers are heading the Telangana Police Academy, Prisons Department, SIB, ACB, CID, Vigilance, Armed Reserve, CCS, and Cyber Security Bureau.Seven women officers are discharging their duties as DCPs in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda police commissionerates.
In view of increasing challenges in dealing with crime cases, investigation, traffic control, day patrol, night patrol, security, VIP protection, CM Revanth Reddy said that the government has also taken several welfare measures for the well being of the cops. The state government has recruited about 16,000 constables and SIs to reduce work burden and improve efficiency. Political interference was completely removed in the discharge of duties by the police.

For police welfare, the CM said the highest compensation in the country is being provided to Telangana top police officers and all other rank officials in case they died in attacks by anti-social forces, terrorists and who have been injured and disabled. A government job, house, free education in residential schools for their children, medical treatment, bus pass facilities and other schemes to one of the families of police officers who have died heroically in the line of duty was provided. Special seats in medical Colleges are also provided for the children of police martyrs. The ex-gratia has increased to Rs one crore for constables to ASI rank officials, Rs 1.25 crore to SIs and CIs, Rs 1.50 crore to DSPs and Additional SPs and Rs 2 crore is being given to SPs and other IPS officers. ” It is the responsibility of all of us to stand by the police who are performing their duties and sacrificing their lives for the society “.

As promised to set up special educational institutions for the children of police personnel, the Chief Minister said that Young India Police School in Manchirevu, Ranga Reddy district has been started recently. The institution is providing quality education with international standards to the children of police personnel. 50 percent of the seats have been allocated to the children of police personnel and the remaining 50 percent to the children of ordinary citizens. The government also increased the prestige of Telangana Police by giving jobs to Olympian and boxer Nikhat Zareen and World Cup winner cricketer Mohammed Siraj as DSPs.
The chief minister emphasized that transparency, accountability, and adherence to ethical values are the cornerstones of policing. These bring the community closer to people and increase trust in the police department. The police responsibility is to solve people’s problems, prevent crimes, and repose trust in the police department.

Maintaining law and order and security are utmost important for the rapidly developing state of Telangana, the CM said that the influence of social media has increased greatly and hence police should take every step carefully.
The CM noted that ‘friendly policing’ is for law-abiding citizens and not for those who violate the law. While allowing protests to be organized to protect the rights of the people and express their problems in a democratic regime, the police should act very sensitively in this case so as not to cause trouble to the common people.
