TIME-BOUND ACTION SOUGHT
Land, rehabilitation, compensation and livelihood concerns affecting thousands placed before Petitions Committee: Palla Srinivasa Rao
Visakhapatnam, June 23: Several long-pending public issues affecting thousands of families in Gajuwaka were placed before the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Petitions Committee by TDP State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao on Tuesday, seeking time-bound solutions to grievances that have remained unresolved for years.
The Committee, chaired by Deputy Speaker and Petitions Committee Chairman Kanumuru Raghurama Krishnam Raju, reviewed a wide range of issues including land regularisation, rehabilitation of displaced families, 22-A land restrictions, compensation for acquired properties, Visakhapatnam Steel Plant evacuees, Gangavaram fishing communities, pending Gram Sabha commitments and industrial land-related disputes.
Addressing the Committee, Srinivasa Rao said thousands of families continue to suffer due to delays in resolving issues related to land ownership, rehabilitation, compensation and livelihoods. He urged the government to move beyond procedural reviews and ensure concrete action with clearly defined timelines.

Among the major issues raised were regularisation of long-established residential colonies in Vadlapudi, Chinagantyada, Kurmannapalem and Mindi; pending house-site allotments for Pharma City displaced families; removal of unjustified 22-A restrictions; compensation for land acquisition-affected families; rehabilitation of Gangavaram fishermen; protection of the rights of genuine Steel Plant evacuees; and implementation of assurances given through Gram Sabha resolutions.
The MLA also highlighted the plight of Akkireddypalem farmers awaiting compensation for more than three decades, sought better utilisation of Apparel Park to generate employment, and requested ownership rights for residents of long-settled housing colonies.
Responding positively, the Petitions Committee directed Revenue, APIIC, Urban Development and other concerned departments to submit action-taken reports and resolve several issues within stipulated timelines.

“The people of Gajuwaka have waited long enough. These are issues concerning livelihood, property rights and justice. The government must ensure timely and meaningful solutions,” Srinivasa Rao said.
The meeting was attended by MLAs Vishnu Kumar Raju, Ganta Srinivasa Rao and Konathala Ramakrishna, along with senior government officials and representatives of various departments.
