The month AP kept Focus on Education

Amaravati, June 30: The month witnessed a major step in the reformation of Government schools with Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy setting up a high-level working group on steps to be taken to transform the students into world class products equipped with modern technology and signing an MoU with US agency ETS for training them in TOEFL.


While the working group will make recommendations on curriculum, infrastructure, resource deployment and learning content in a bid to make the Government school students globally competitive, the MoU with the ETS will enable students from 3 to 10 prepare for TOEFL. ETS will train specially selected teachers who in turn will train the Government school students for TOEFL certification.
As per the welfare colander, the Chief Minister released Rs. 6,392 Cr for Amma Vodi, Rs. 3,923.21crore under YSR Rythu Bharosa-PM Kisan and Rs. 6.12 crore for junior advocates under YSR Law Nestham besides launching the distribution of Vidya Kanuka kits worth Rs.1042.53crore for students.


The month highlighted the Chief Minister’s commitment for the development of education sector when he spent quality time with the students in class rooms during the presentation of Jagananna Animutyalu Awards for top ranking Government schools students.
The Chief Minister took the housing programme in the State to the next level by handing over to the beneficiaries Rs. 800crore worth 8912 TIDCO houses built in Gudivada Municipal limits.
He has also flagged off tractors, harvesters and other farm machinery worth Rs.361.29crore under the YSR Yantra Seva Scheme and 516 e-autos as part of Clean Andhra Pradesh (CLAP) programme.


The Chief Minister’s proposal to constitute 12th PRC and implement the AP Guaranteed Pension scheme (GPS) for the Government employees replacing the CPS and to regularize the services of 10,117 contract employees was ratified by the Cabinet during the month.
Besides launching the mass contact programme Jagananna Suraksha to solve public grievances, the Chief Minister also okayed the proposal to conduct ‘Play Andhra’ sports festival to encourage the youth.
On the industrial front, he has inaugurated the Rs. 100crore worth edible oil refinery Godrej Agrovet in Eluru district and laid foundation stones for three other companies boosting the prospects of employment opportunities for the youth. Widening the communication network in the remote areas, the Chief Minister launched the operations of 100 Jio towers in tribal belts and4G services.


During the month, the Chief Minister also inspected the progress of the Polavaram Project, hosted an official dinner to Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra of the Supreme Court and attended a Santi Yagnam.
Among the prominent visitors who called on the Chief Minister in June included Union Minister of State for Finance Dr. Bhagwat Kishanrao Karad, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner Shelley Salehin, SKOCH Group Chairman Sameer Kochhar, Visakhapatnam Port Authority Chairman M. Angamuthu, West Godavari ZP Chairperson G Padmasri, Chennai Super Kings (CSSK) team and cricketers Ambati Rayudu and KS Bharat, CMC delegation, Employees’ union leaders, UPSC rankers and IAS probationers.
