Palla Srinivasa Rao Credits Cadre for a Historic Democratic Movement

Women’s 33% Reservation Proposal Emerges as Landmark Reform Amid Record-Breaking Participation

Amaravati, May 29: Hailing Mahanadu-2026 as a watershed moment in the history of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao said the event had surpassed even the most optimistic expectations and emerged as a defining chapter in contemporary Indian politics.

Expressing profound gratitude to party workers, leaders, volunteers, technical teams and supporters across the globe, Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed that Mahanadu-2026 was not merely a political convention but a powerful testament to the organisational strength, discipline, technological adaptability and unwavering commitment of the Telugu Desam cadre.

“I had earlier stated that this Mahanadu would achieve success on a scale worthy of global recognition. What unfolded exceeded every expectation. Our cadre have not only set a new benchmark but have created history,” he remarked.

Describing the event as one of the largest digitally enabled political gatherings ever organised by a regional party in the country, he noted that participation from 1,875 clusters, thousands of leaders and workers across 12 countries, and an unprecedented virtual engagement of nearly 2.45 million people had elevated Mahanadu-2026 to an extraordinary level.

Conducted through an innovative hybrid model that combined physical participation with large-scale digital connectivity, the convention demonstrated how technology could be effectively leveraged to deepen democratic engagement while ensuring organisational efficiency. Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the model could well serve as a reference point for political organisations across the world.

Cadre Remain the Party’s Greatest Strength

Reflecting on the TDP’s four-decade journey, Mr. Srinivasa Rao emphasised that the party’s enduring strength had always been its grassroots workers.

“From the party’s inception in 1982 to the present day, it is the cadre who have carried the organisation through every challenge and every triumph. Their dedication to ideology, leadership and public service remains unparalleled in Indian politics,” he said.

He paid tribute to thousands of party workers who stood steadfast during difficult political periods, enduring hardships, legal battles and personal sacrifices while remaining committed to the party’s principles.

“The Telugu Desam Party stands on the foundation of the sacrifices, resilience and unwavering loyalty of its cadre. Their contribution can never be adequately measured,” he observed.

Chandrababu Naidu Exemplifies the Spirit of ‘Karyakarthae Adhinetha’

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu had once again demonstrated through action that party workers occupy the highest place within the organisation.

He noted that more than ₹160 crore had been spent on cadre welfare initiatives, while dedicated programmes focusing on education, skill development, social security and empowerment for workers’ families reflected the leadership’s long-term commitment to the party rank and file.

“The philosophy that the worker is the true leader is not merely a slogan within the Telugu Desam Party; it is a governing principle that continues to guide organisational decision-making,” he said.

Nara Lokesh Gives a New Definition to Digital Politics

The State President credited National Working President Nara Lokesh for successfully conceptualising and executing the hybrid Mahanadu model.

According to him, the seamless integration of technology with political participation enabled direct engagement between leadership and grassroots workers on an unprecedented scale.

“By bringing every worker closer to the leadership through technology, a new chapter has been opened in Indian political communication and organisational management,” he said.

Historic Push for Women’s Political Empowerment

Among the landmark decisions endorsed at Mahanadu-2026, Mr. Srinivasa Rao identified the proposal for 33% political reservation for women within the party structure and electoral representation as one of the most transformative.

He said that while N.T. Rama Rao laid the foundation for women’s empowerment and Mr. Chandrababu Naidu strengthened their economic participation, the proposal advanced by Nara Lokesh sought to ensure women’s direct representation in political decision-making.

“Across the country, discussions on women’s reservation have continued for decades. However, a political party voluntarily committing itself to meaningful representation within its organisational and electoral framework marks a significant democratic reform,” he said.

He described the initiative not merely as a reservation policy but as a decisive step towards sharing political power and leadership opportunities with women.

Twenty-One Resolutions Chart the Road Ahead

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said Mahanadu-2026 adopted 21 key resolutions addressing a wide spectrum of issues, including women’s empowerment, youth employment, social justice, welfare of backward classes, technological advancement and inclusive development.

The convention also urged the Union Government to confer the Bharat Ratna on TDP founder N.T. Rama Rao in recognition of his contribution to public life and social transformation.

More than 88 leaders and party representatives participated in discussions on various resolutions, making the deliberations one of the most substantive features of the event, he added.

Taking the Mahanadu Message to Every Household

Stating that the success of Mahanadu marked the beginning of a renewed organisational mission rather than its conclusion, Mr. Srinivasa Rao called upon party workers to carry the resolutions, achievements, developmental vision and ideological commitments of the party to every household.

He urged the cadre to actively engage with the public on issues relating to development, welfare, social justice, women’s empowerment and opportunities for the younger generation.

Gratitude to the Telugu Desam Family Worldwide

Concluding his remarks, Mr. Srinivasa Rao conveyed heartfelt appreciation to TDP National President N. Chandrababu Naidu, National Working President Nara Lokesh, party leaders, grassroots workers, technical teams and members of the Telugu Desam family across the world whose collective effort transformed Mahanadu-2026 into a landmark success.

“The scale, spirit and participation witnessed at Mahanadu-2026 have reaffirmed the enduring strength of the Telugu Desam movement. This success belongs to every worker, every supporter and every well-wisher who contributed to making this historic gathering a reality,” he said.
