- CM requests for Metro Phase-II under Joint Venture
- Allocate Rs. 10,000 crores for Musi Rejuvenation project
- Provide funds for Hyderabad and Warangal drainage schemes
Hyderabad, January 24: Chief Minister Sri A Revanth Reddy appealed to Union minister for Housing and Urban Development Manohar Lal Khattar to sanction 20 lakh houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) 2.0 to the Telangana State.
The Chief Minister attended a review on Urban Development- PMAY (urban) and the Power Sector conducted by Manohar Lal Khattar in Hyderabad today (Friday). The CM apprised the union minister of Telangana’s demography that the 8 percent urban population is located in only Telangana in the country.
CM Revanth Reddy urged the Union Minister to sanction 20 lakh houses to Telangana which happened to be the first state to join PMAY 2.0 and also ready with comprehensive data and a complete plan for the construction of houses.
The CM brought to the attention of Manohar Lal that Metro connectivity in Hyderabad is poor when compared to the major cities – Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. The Chief Minister briefed the Union Minister about the six corridors envisaged under Metro Phase-II. The Corridor –IV covers Nagole-Shamshabad International Airport (36.8 km), Corridor -V: Rayadurgam-Kokapet Neopolis (11.6 km), Corridor-VI: MGBS-Chandrayanagutta (7.5 km), Corridor-VII: Miyapur-Patancheru (13.4 km), Corridor-VIII: LB Nagar-Hayat Nagar (7.1 km), Corridor-IX: Rajiv Gandhi International Airport-Fourth City (Skill University) (40 km).
CM Revanth Reddy said the DPRs for the first five corridors (76.4 km) have already been submitted and it required Rs 24,269 crore to construct the corridors and appealed to the union minister to approve the DPRs and allocate funds under the Joint Venture (JV) between the Central and State Governments.
Explaining the importance of the river Musi Rejuvenation project, CM Revanth Reddy requested Manoharlal Khattar to extend the central assistance for the construction of canals on 55 km (total 110 km) stretch, box drains and STPs on both sides of the river to prevent the sewage entering Musi. For this, the Union Minister has been requested to allocate Rs. 10,000 crores for Musi project. The CM informed Manohar Lal that a Comprehensive Sewerage Major Plan (CSMP) has been prepared at a cost of Rs. 17,212 crores for the construction of sewerage network in Hyderabad city and 27 nearby urban bodies. The Chief Minister urged to consider the CSMP as AMRUT 2.0 or a special project and allocate funds. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also told Union Minister the state government notified a master plan for the comprehensive development of Warangal, the second largest city in the state of Telangana and requested to allocate central funds to undertake the Comprehensive Groundwater Drainage (UGD) project at a cost of Rs. 41.70 crore in Warangal.
ALLOCATE ONE LAKH SOLAR PUMPS UNDER PM KUSUM
In the same meeting, CM Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka appealed to Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal Khattar to allocate 1 lakh solar pumps under PM Kusum to ensure continuous supply of irrigation water to tribal farmers in Telangana. The union minister is also requested to allocate 2,500 MW under the Kusum-C FLS component to the state. The CM and Deputy CM briefed the union minister about the 9 project reports which have already been submitted to the Centre with an estimated cost of Rs. 488 crores for power supply and network strengthening and requested to sanction them immediately. The CM also appealed to include Telangana DISCOMs in the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and reduce the interest rates on loans given by the Power Finance Corporation (PFC) and Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) to the state power utilities.
Since it takes more than two years to build new renewable power plants, the chief minister urged the Union Minister to waive the penalties imposed for not meeting the RPPO targets and allocate required funds for the upgradation of renewable energy management centers. State Housing Minister P Srinivasa Reddy, Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Malkajgiri MP Etala Rajender, State Government Advisor (Protocol, Public Relations) Harkara Venugopal, State Government Advisor (Infrastructure) Srinivasa Raju, State Government Principal Secretary Shanthi Kumari and officials of the respective departments participated in the review.
UNION MINISTER CONGRATULATES CHIEF MINISTER
Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar congratulated Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for securing investments of Rs. 1.78 lakh crore for Telangana state. The Chief Minister told the Union Minister that the Prime Minister is aiming to make the country a 5 trillion US dollar economy and the Telangana state also aspired to achieve the target of a 1 trillion US dollar economy.
