A Proud news for Indians
(Shankar Chatterjee)
Hyderabad girl Rishitha Sali born in 2004 has achieved laurels as she has been selected in Biochemical Engineering in University College London (UCL) in 2022 which is ranked 8th in the World University. According to the QS World University Rankings, which offers an annually updated list of the top 1,400 plus universities worldwide, unfortunately, within the list of one hundred, no universities in India can be found. It is pertinent to mention that in the 2023 edition of the QS World University Rankings, among 100 top universities, 44 universities in the world are located in the USA (27) and the UK (17). For the benefit of readers, I wish to mention that QS is a leading global education network connecting universities, business schools, and students. Anyway, Rishitha Sali completed her 11th and 12th grades from Gordon’s Boarding School, United Kingdom (U.K.). It is heartening to mention that she got an A* in all the subjects in 12th grade indicating her performance was excellent. Her father is also a great personality and was a brilliant student in school days and later on as a medical student. Dr. S. Nagesh, MBBS, MD, MRCPC(UK) completed MBBS and MD (paediatrics) from Gandhi Hospital, Hyderabad. He was awarded Gold Medal in MD. Along with MRCPC, he completed Neonatology and Nero-epilepsy from the UK. Dr. Nagesh is now Managing Director of Rishitha Hospital, Bandlaguda Jagir, Hyderabad.
While Rishitha Sali was a student of Gordon’s School, she proved her high calibre in different fields. She represented students all over the UK at the UN’s Conference of the Parties (COP 26) and travelled to Glasgow for the Global Climate Summit with two others from Surrey Environmental Action Schools as part of the UK Schools Sustainability Network. Rishita demonstrated hydrogen fuel cells and battery storage and thus created awareness about the climatic issues. Around 190 top leaders across the world attended the Summit. The United Kingdom hosted the 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow from 31 October to12 November 2021. The Conference of Parties (COP) is a well-known annual event that sees nations come together to discuss measures to reduce anthropomorphic global warming and steps to tackle Climate Change. After the participation, she was joyous and excited as at a comparatively young age she could interact with many in the world. Because of her dynamic role Gordon’s School has recognized her by issuing the following document.
Before conclusion, a few lines about University College London (UCL) are presented from their website, “University College London was established in 1826 after the University of Cambridge and Oxford. As per the number of students and facilities, it’s the third-largest university and finds its place in the top 10 universities worldwide.
Its main campus is in Bloomsbury, London, but the university has various branches worldwide. It is famous for its various courses, popular Alumni, sports, and research. They promote a secular environment and have students from over 150 countries.
The university offers a variety of courses in every field, and with changing times and technology, they continue to add more courses to their list. University College of London got a great reputation worldwide, and most students are willing to be admitted here.
However, they are very selective when it comes to admission. Only 38% of students get through the selection process. Also, it’s among the most expensive college you can find in London, but if we look at its popularity, widespread acceptability, research, and courses, the university is worth exploring” (yourstudy.net/college/university-college-london).
