Ready to set up nursing colleges in line with demand

Hyderabad, July 31: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced that TOMCOM (Telangana Overseas Manpower Company) was entrusted with the responsibility of the entire process from providing training, organizing job fairs, to facilitating passport services and securing good job opportunities for the aspiring youth in foreign countries.
On Friday, the Chief Minister held a review of the ‘ Shakti ‘ department attended by Minister Vivek Venkataswamy and top officials.
The CM noted that a large number of workers from North Telangana are going to Middle Eastern countries and often falling victim to fraud by agents and facing significant hardships. The authorities of the TOMCOM were ordered to enter into agreements with manpower agencies in the destination countries to assist the workers including obtaining passports.
CM Revanth Reddy said that such agreements would enable TOMCOM to intervene, hold discussions, and ensure justice for the workers in case they face any difficulties abroad. The Chief Minister directed officials to collect the details of agents who facilitate the overseas migration of workers and to register the particulars of every individual sent abroad by them. A former IFS officer would be appointed as the CEO of TOMCOM to oversee these operations. Providing training in Light Motor Vehicle (LMV) and Heavy Motor Vehicle (HMV) driving to job seekers was discussed in the meeting.
The Chief Minister proposed establishing a research centre at the Young India Skill University to foster innovation. A dedicated department within the university to facilitate learning languages such as German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, and Russian will also be established. Instructors from these respective countries, alongside local experts proficient in the foreign languages, will be hired during training.
Plantation of relocated trees within the university campus, feasibility of providing scholarships to individuals undergoing training for blue-collar jobs, similar to the overseas scholarships offered to students pursuing higher education was reviewed in the meeting. The CM stated that students studying in government engineering colleges, ITIs, ATCs, and polytechnic colleges should be provided opportunities to undertake internships with major companies.
CM Revanth Reddy stressed that pursuing internships alongside their studies, students would earn a stipend and acquire skills relevant to their future careers. The Chief Minister suggested introducing courses on EV servicing and drone technology in ATCs, highlighting the need for skilled personnel to service electric vehicles in view of the rapidly increasing number of electric vehicles. The CM also recommended offering drone technology courses due to the significant rise in the use of drones in agriculture.
The officials briefed the CM about the increasing demand for nursing services both domestically and abroad, and the rising elderly population in several developed countries which created a demand for home-based nursing care. CM Revanth Reddy said that permissions for nursing colleges are being granted to meet the growing demand for nurses.
CM’s Principal Secretary N. Sridhar, Secretary Harichandana, Director of Employment and Training Nirmala Kanthi Wesley, and Young India Skill University Vice-Chancellor Subbarao participated in the review meeting.
