Visakhapatnam, May 30: TDP State President and Gajuwaka MLA Palla Srinivasa Rao have described the commencement of operations of the South Coast Railway Zone, headquartered in Visakhapatnam, as a historic milestone that fulfils a decades-long aspiration of the Telugu people.
Stating that the achievement belongs to every Telugu citizen, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the operationalisation of the railway zone marks the culmination of years of struggle, public aspiration and sustained efforts by people’s representatives. He said it was a matter of immense personal satisfaction to have been associated with the movement and public campaign that consistently sought the establishment of a separate railway zone for Andhra Pradesh.
Recalling the aspirations that emerged in the aftermath of the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Srinivasa Rao noted that a railway zone with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters had remained one of the most significant expectations of the people. The commencement of operations of the South Coast Railway Zone, he said, represents the fulfilment of a long-standing commitment and a moment of pride for Telugu-speaking people across the State.
Justice to the Aspirations of the Telugu People
Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed that the South Coast Railway Zone, comprising the Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, Guntur and Guntakal divisions, would provide fresh impetus to Andhra Pradesh’s developmental journey. The new zone is expected to strengthen railway administration, accelerate infrastructure development, facilitate new projects and create employment opportunities, thereby contributing significantly to the State’s economic progress.
According to Mr. Srinivasa Rao, the establishment of the railway zone is not merely an administrative restructuring exercise but a development-oriented initiative capable of unlocking new opportunities for growth, connectivity and investment across the region.
A Testament to the Coalition Government’s Commitment
Mr. Srinivasa Rao stated that the commencement of operations from June 1 stands as a clear reflection of the coalition government’s commitment to honouring the assurances given to the people of Andhra Pradesh.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr. Srinivasa Rao said the long-pending aspiration of the Telugu people had found concrete expression under his leadership. He remarked that the operationalisation of the South Coast Railway Zone demonstrates the Central Government’s commitment to addressing the legitimate developmental aspirations of Andhra Pradesh.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao also conveyed his sincere appreciation to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan for their unwavering commitment towards safeguarding the interests of the State and pursuing key developmental priorities with determination and clarity of purpose.
He further acknowledged the contributions of Union Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu and Union Minister of State Dr. Pemmasani Chandrasekhar, noting that their support and continuous coordination at the national level had strengthened Andhra Pradesh’s efforts in securing critical developmental initiatives.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao also appreciated the role played by Visakhapatnam Member of Parliament Mathukumilli Sribharat and Anakapalle Member of Parliament C.M. Ramesh in consistently advocating issues concerning the State’s development. He made special mention of C.M. Ramesh’s contribution to railway-related matters and his continued efforts in advancing the interests of Andhra Pradesh in the sector.
Mr. Srinivasa Rao observed that the realisation of the South Coast Railway Zone reflects the collective efforts of the Central Government, the State Government and public representatives who remained committed to achieving this long-standing objective.
A Victory Worth Celebrating
Describing the formation of the South Coast Railway Zone as a victory for the Telugu people, Mr. Srinivasa Rao called upon TDP cadres, supporters and the general public to celebrate June 1 as a day of collective pride and achievement.
He appealed for commemorative programmes to be organised across every constituency, town and village in Andhra Pradesh to mark the historic occasion. He suggested that people gather at nearby railway stations and railway signboards, distribute sweets and share the joy of an achievement that has been realised after decades of perseverance and public effort.
“This is not merely an administrative decision. It is a victory for the self-respect, aspirations and determination of the Telugu people. The South Coast Railway Zone stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when public aspirations are pursued with conviction and commitment,” Mr. Srinivasa Rao said.
Expressing confidence that the South Coast Railway Zone would herald a new chapter in Andhra Pradesh’s development, Mr. Srinivasa Rao urged people across the State to treat the occasion as their own success and celebrate it in a grand and befitting manner. This version is tighter, politically balanced, maintains the exact spirit of the Telugu text, incorporates all requested acknowledgements in the correct hierarchy, and consistently uses “Mr. Srinivasa Rao” throughout.
