A New Year Message in Print: “Relationships – The Essence of Life” Released at Ramdev Rao Hospital

Hyderabad: “Relationships – The Essence of Life,” a new book by renowned Reiki Grand Master, counselor and educationist Lakshmi Kamalakar, was formally launched on January 1 at Ramdev Rao Hospital in a ceremony that set a reflective tone for the new year. The book was inaugurated by the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Kamalakar, in the presence of CEO Dr. Yobu, with administrative managers, senior officials and staff members attending the event.

The launch brought attention to a concern many families and communities are quietly facing today: the gradual fading of deep human bonds amid fast-paced lifestyles and rising emotional strain. Centered on the theme of “Awakening Human Relationships in the Present Generation,” the book positions life not as a mere sequence of events, but as a journey shaped by relationships—beginning with the first bond of a mother and extending through family, society, values and, ultimately, the relationship with God.

In her address, Lakshmi Kamalakar explained that the book examines how modern living can weaken connections through ego, misunderstandings, wrong decisions and a lack of communication, often turning small issues into lasting distances. She said the work is written in a simple, heart-touching language designed for readers of all age groups, with the intention of helping people recognize the value of relationships, protect them with care and move forward with greater meaning and emotional maturity.

The author emphasized that relationships cannot be sustained through control, but through qualities that make people feel safe and respected. She spoke about trust, patience, tolerance, mutual respect and openness of heart as the true foundations of lasting bonds, and encouraged readers to approach relationships with humility and a willingness to listen rather than a desire to win or dominate.

A key thought from the book, shared during the ceremony, captured its spiritual underpinning: “Human relationships are not our responsibility—they are God’s responsibility.” The idea, she explained, is not about disengagement, but about reducing blame, anxiety and the urge to manage outcomes, while focusing instead on sincerity, compassion and right effort in one’s words and actions.

One of the book’s distinctive elements is the inclusion of reflections, poems and opinions contributed by relatives, friends, doctors, academicians and well-wishers of the author, giving the work a collective voice rooted in lived experience. The contributors describe relationships through evocative metaphors, portraying them as guiding lights in life, bonds that give wings to the soul, and blessings bestowed by God, reinforcing the book’s message that relationships are both deeply personal and universally shared.

Several attendees and contributors said the book feels simple yet profoundly touching, and expressed pride that their thoughts are part of it, describing it as more than an individual effort. They noted that the writing reflects the shared emotional realities people encounter—love and responsibility, conflict and regret, reconciliation and acceptance—making the book relatable across professions and generations.

The narrative explores themes that mirror everyday life, including judgments and misunderstandings, learning from pain, and the importance of forgiveness and communication, while also acknowledging the courage it sometimes takes to let go when holding on becomes harmful. It further presents the relationship with God as the ultimate relationship, suggesting that spiritual grounding can help people navigate fragile human ties with greater steadiness and hope.

Hospital management appreciated the book as a timely work of self-reflection for today’s emotionally driven society, observing that well-being is shaped not only by physical health but also by the quality of one’s relationships. With its blend of life experience, spiritual perspective and service-oriented insight, “Relationships – The Essence of Life” was presented at the launch as an invitation to rebuild connection, choose understanding over assumption and protect bonds before they slip into silence.
