CM Revanth Reddy reviews Osmania University development works

Hyderabad, December 05: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has said that he will visit Osmania University on December 10 to inspect the academic blocks, hostels and other facilities provided to the students in the university.

Emphasizing the active role of the teaching staff and the students to promote Osmania university as the world class institutions in the future, the Chief Minister ordered the officials to seek the opinions of students and teaching staff in the development works which are being launched in the university soon.

In the review of the university development works at his residence on Friday, the officials briefed the Chief Minister about the development works to be launched at the Osmania University through power point presentation. The CM suggested that the officials should receive the opinions of the students and teaching staff regarding the development works of the university. First, the development models should be placed in front of them. Drop boxes and a special website should be set up to express their opinions. A final decision on the development plans should be taken by the end of December, giving priority to the students’ opinions, the CM said.

CM Revanth Reddy also suggested several changes in the construction of hostel buildings, roads, academic blocks and auditorium. The officials were instructed to consider the issue of utilization of the urban forestry funds for works in the forest area within the university limits and creation of new water resources while conserving the existing water resources within the university limits.

The CM stressed that accommodation for an additional ten percent of the students for every hundred students should be provided during the construction of the hostels and academic buildings. Such a facility will help to avoid any inconvenience to the students and staff in the future.

Stating that the government is ready to provide sufficient funds for the development of the university, CM Revanth Reddy said that the historical and heritage buildings within the university premises should be preserved. Priority should be given to the construction of the new buildings instead of the renovation of the ancient buildings which do not have historical importance, the CM said that special attention should also be paid to each work, including cycle tracks and pedestrian roads. The symbols reflecting the struggle of Osmania students should also be installed.

Chief Minister’s Advisor Vem Narender Reddy, State Government Advisor Kesava Rao, Special Secretary to CM Ajith Reddy, Principal Secretary of the Education Department Yogita Rana, Commissioner of Technical Education Sridevasena, Osmania University Vice Chancellor Professor Molugaram Kumar, Principal of the Arts College Professor Kashim and others participated in the review.
